September 21, 2022 – President Putin ordered Russia’s first mobilisation since World War Two, warning the West that if it continued what he called its “nuclear blackmail” that Moscow would respond with the might of all its vast arsenal.

In a rare address to the nation, President Putin said some reservists would now be called up to fight in Ukraine. Russia’s defence minister said the partial mobilisation will see 300,000 reservists called and up would apply to those with previous military experience.
Meanwhile, Western nations have condemned Moscow’s plans to hold urgent so-called referendums in parts of Ukraine that are currently under Russian control.
Putin said that “those who try to blackmail us with nuclear weapons should know that the prevailing winds can turn in their direction.”
