Job Title: Graphic Designer/ Illustrator
Location: Monrovia
Reports to: Lindsey Leslie, SBC Advisor
Breakthrough ACTION Liberia is USAID’s flagship social and behavior change program in Liberia. The program activities include developing materials that can help convey health important information to the public in an attractive manner. To accomplish this, the project seeks to identify a pool of talented graphic designers/ illustrators/ artists who can work with the project on the delivery of various artistic materials, on an as needed basis.
This solicitation is aims to identify illustration, layout and design services in order to deliver creative and innovative ideas future for print and electronic materials. The selected consultant(s) will work to ensure that the materials are high-quality and reflective of the local aesthetic. Most of the expected scope includes the full layout and design of forthcoming materials, which may include infographics, posters, images, diagrams, etc.
Compensation for design services will be arranged through short-term contracts determined based on the specifications of the proposed project. Payment is made upon successful completion of the short-term assignment.
Detailed specifications may include:
Design, format and package desired graphics, print materials, illustrations, and/or electronic images and materials
Prepare final layout in “ready-for-use” format (whether it be print or electronic)
Rapid revisions of existing materials
Creative brainstorming to generate tangible examples of concepts, processes, ideas or discussions
Desired qualifications include:
Familiarity with “design thinking”
3-years solid experience in layout, creative design & publishing
Excellent creativity and exposure in a publishing/ creative environment
Able to deliver on schedule and work with minimum supervision
Detail oriented and keen design sense
Expert level proficiency in adobe creative suite (In-design, Illustrator, etc)
Proven experience of graphic production from start to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and color management
Provide samples of previous production
Criteria for evaluation:
Language Skills: Must be fluent in English and Liberian local dialects specific to project areas.
