JW Marriott Hotel Ho Chi Minh City Grand Marina
Vietnam is set to welcome 54,038 new rooms according to insight from the TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database.
The country’s biggest cities, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, in particular are on track to welcoming an influx of new hotels.
Of the 130 hotel projects highlighted by TOPHOTELPROJECTS, 75 of these forthcoming hotels fit into the four-star category, with the other 55 properties promising five-star hospitality.
According to current timelines, 30 of these hotels, which altogether encompass 10,359 rooms, are to open in 2022. Another 36 hotels with a total of 12,302 rooms are to open in 2023, followed by 15 hotel openings with 15,504 rooms in 2024. The remaining 49 hotels with a total of 15,873 rooms are to open in 2025 and beyond.
The most prominent locations for hotel growth are Ho Chi Minh City with 15 forthcoming properties encompassing 7,323 rooms and Hanoi with 13 forthcoming hotels altogether comprising 4,242 rooms. Da Nang expects 11 properties with 2,933 rooms between them.
Brands heightening their presence at this time include Movenpick Hotels & Resorts, which has five hotels in the pipeline, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts with four forthcoming properties across the country.

Standout properties within this impressive pipeline include the late-2024-opening Ho Chi Minh City Grand Marina Marriott Hotel and currently under construction Empire City Hotel, which is yet to have a completion date.
The five-star, 2,100-key Ho Chi Minh City Grand Marina Marriott Hotel is now taking shape at the heart of the metropolis.
This hotel is a part of a dual-branded property also set to comprise Marriott and JW Marriott residential and officetel units featuring hotel-like amenities. Design is a focus here with the architecture of Atkins and interiors by AB Concept and HBA.
The 300-room Empire City Hotel, also in Ho Chi Minh City, is then to be a part of the spectacular collection of high-rise towers and public spaces making up the impressive Empire City, which is set apart by its vision of living with nature in a city setting.
Three skyscrapers are to rise above a mountain-shaped, garden-like podium, with the central Empire 88 Tower featuring residences, apartments, a hotel and a public observation deck, as well as vertical gardens and planted platforms making up the Sky Forest.
Buro Ole Scheeren is behind the design of this new landmark and CallisonRTKL is designing the hotel interiors. Land Sculptor Studio Co is behind the site’s landscape design.
