Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences Miami
Almost 40 hotel projects are being planned across the Magic City, according to the TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database, including an eye-popping Waldorf Astoria scheme.
Miami will soon witness the completion of 39 new properties with a total of 7,993 rooms, our in-house research team can reveal.
We’re currently tracking the status of seven five-star hotel schemes, accounting for 1,552 keys, across the city – not least standout offerings from Waldorf Astoria, Curio Collection and Morgans Originals. And we’re monitoring developments on no fewer than 32 four-star projects with 6,441 rooms between them.
Many of these ambitious plans are expected to be realised sooner rather than later. There are ten properties and 1,743 rooms due in 2022, while a further ten hotels with 2,055 keys are scheduled to follow next year. Just two projects (390 rooms) are being lined up to finish in 2024 at present, although a whopping 17 schemes (3,805 keys) have been mooted for 2025 and beyond.

Undoubtedly, the most striking of all the Magic City’s current developments is Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences Miami, which will rise 100 storeys and 1,049 ft above Biscayne Bay – making it one of the tallest buildings on the East Coast. Comprising nine glass cubes stacked on top of one another in a distinctive offset pattern, it’ll feature 205 hotel guestrooms and suites, 360 luxury residences, a Peacock Alley lounge, a speciality restaurant, a resort-style pool deck with private cabanas, a spa and fitness centre, and multiple function rooms. The stellar design team behind the project, which has been pencilled in to open in Q1 2026, includes Sieger Suarez Architects (architecture), Carlos Ott (architecture), BAMO (interior architecture and design) and EGS2 (landscape architecture).
Another scheme well worth mentioning is Miami Wilds Family Lodge Hotel, near the ever-popular Zoo Miami. This proposed boutique hotel forms part of the wider Miami Wilds development – which also boasts a waterpark, shops, restaurants and parking – that’s being designed by a team that includes Savino & Miller Design Studio. Catering primarily for out-of-town families who want to visit the many attractions of South Dade, it’ll have 100 rooms when phase one of the project completes, expanding to 200 keys after phase two.
