The metropolis linking Hong Kong to China’s mainland is set to welcome 44 new hotels over the coming years.
Altogether, the city will benefit from an additional 9,974 guest rooms with notable properties from brands including Conrad and Shangri-La.
Shenzhen, China, is growing its hospitality offering with as many as 27 four-star and 17 five-star hotels opening over the next few years.
In 2022, the city will benefit from 11 openings, altogether comprising 2,434 rooms, followed by nine openings with a total of 1,900 rooms in 2023, 13 openings with 3,350 rooms in 2024 and 11 openings with 2,290 rooms in 2025 and beyond.
Of these forthcoming properties, four are in the pre-planning phase, 11 are at the planning stage and 29 are under construction.
Brands making a particular impact are Somerset Serviced Residence, which has five hotels on the horizon, followed by Hotel Indigo with three forthcoming properties in the city. Hyatt Regency Hotels is set to open two new hotels here.

Exciting openings on the horizon include the late 2022 opening Conrad Shenzhen and early 2024 opening Shangri-La Shenzhen Bay Huiyun Center.
The 300-room five-star Conrad Shenzhen is taking shape at the centre of Shenzhen’s burgeoning Qianhai CBD as a part of a development project in the Horoy Qianhai Center.
The hotel’s spacious guest rooms and suites will be joined by culinary venues offering both local and international cuisine and around 2,480 sq m of event space including a 1,200-sq-m ballroom.
The 200-key Shangri-La Shenzhen Bay Huiyun Center is then located within the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base in Nanshan District. This location places the hotel at the intersection of three subway lines and near an array of amenities and tourist attractions.
The hotel will take up the upper floors of the Shenzhen Bay Huiyun Center. Floors 68 to 76 will be home to the property’s guest rooms, providing guests with views over the Nanshan Headquarters Base, Overseas Chinese Town Wetland Park and Shenzhen Bay Park, or views over Shenzhen Bay and Hong Kong skyline beyond on the building’s south side.
The hotel will be home to a 78th-floor spa and fitness centre and a collection of restaurants and bars including an all-day dining restaurant on the 79th-floor, 4th-floor Chinese restaurant and sky bar on the 67th floor. The rooftop will feature a helipad for guests as well as space for events.
